Our Beliefs
Read below to learn more about the beliefs of Journey Church.
-
We believe in one God, who is Father, Jesus the Son, and Holy Spirit, and who is the Savior of all who put their faith in Him alone. God is holy, loving, and desires a personal relationship with each one of us.
-
The Bible was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs about living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without error.
-
The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and Church and reach the world. The Bible's lists of these gifts are not necessarily exhaustive, and the gifts may occur in various combinations.
-
The Church is the people of God. Every person who is born of the Spirit is an integral part of the church as a member of those who call Jesus Lord and follow His way. The Church is God’s primary way He is reaching the world
-
Water Baptism: Following faith in the Jesus, we are instructed to be baptized in water in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit as a symbol of our “dying” to our way and being “made alive” to His way.
The Lord's Supper/Communion: A unique time of communion in the presence of God when the elements of bread and grape juice (the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ) are taken in remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross.
-
Humans are created spiritual, eternal beings who exist forever. We believe we will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
-
Prayer is communication with God and He hears our prayers. There are different postures of prayer, but all prayer is for the purpose of connection with God.
-
A relationship with Jesus should result in a changed life. A holy, transformed life is a witness to others about how Jesus leads us and changes us.
-
Sin is anything that separates us from God. The Bible clearly states that all have sinned and are in need of the saving grace of Jesus. The wages of sin is death but through the sacrifice of Jesus we can be saved and forgiven of our sins.
